We are delighted to announce the launch of IMEEC.eu. After several months of reflection, our consultancy, Cooperans, decided to create this platform to raise awareness among European stakeholders of this major initiative, which has the potential to reshape global logistics and connectivity.
Announced at the G20 Summit in New Delhi in September 2023, the India–Middle East–Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC or IMEC) was significantly delayed by Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel and the conflict that followed.
The Strait of Hormuz crisis has demonstrated the urgent need for Europe, the Middle East and India to develop new trade routes capable of ensuring the continuity and resilience of their commercial exchanges.
The development of the IMEEC is part of the solution. However, it is a long-term undertaking, particularly regarding its overland component across the Middle East, where financial, geopolitical and security challenges remain considerable.
European stakeholders must seize this opportunity to defend their strategic interests and strengthen cooperation with key partners across the Middle East and South Asia. While Mediterranean Europe naturally occupies a central position within this initiative, the success of the corridor requires the commitment and coordination of Europe as a whole. Together, European countries can help build a corridor that will enhance security, prosperity and long-term connectivity for all participating partners.
Through IMEEC.eu, our mission is to monitor and promote the development of the corridor, highlight the initiatives that support it, and assist European public and private stakeholders in contributing to its implementation.
